I want to make one thing clear right away: I am not just a host!

In the gut, for example, I play an essential role in many vital functions: i) metabolic functions: I transform ingested food and make gluten and lactose digestible (where gluten and lactose intolerances are poorly or poorly represented), I produce Vit.K2, cobalamin, niacin, thiamine, etc, I stimulate lipid metabolism, bile acid recycling, polyphenol and antioxidant metabolism, and much more [...].
